Heartland Hospice Celebrates Annual Memorial Service

“Today we all have one thing in common, we have embarked on this wonderful journey called, life,” stated Angela Lavigne, Heartland Hospice Administrator, during their Annual Memorial Service. She continued, “As we entered this life we have made a history all of our own, we have embraced childhood, friends, loves, families and careers, maybe not all in that order. That history has defined the lives we are celebrating today. Our Heartland Hospice family has had the privilege to not only share in the history of our patients but they became a part of such an intimate time.”

Angela then read the poem, “Carry Me Home” to over 100 family members and friends who joined Heartland Hospice serving the Peninsula to celebrate the lives of patients who have passed throughout the year. Paul Alston, Bereavement Coordinator, gave words of inspiration and announced the names of all 189 lives that were being celebrated during the memorial service. Heartland honored the families with songs including Amazing Grace which was played on a violin and I’ll Fly Away sung by Chaplain Dave Lekarczyk. Forty doves were released in remembrance of these precious lives.
