Heartland Hospice serving The Low Country held special Memorial Day celebrations to honor the spouses of veterans’ who have passed. Among the spouses were both widows and a few widowers from local Charleston facilities including: Ashley River Plantation, Savannah Place, Harvest Health and Rehabilitation and Carter-May Catholic Home.

“Memorial Day gives us the chance to remember and honor those who served in the U.S. military that have passed,” commented Dave Evans, Account Liaison for Heartland Hospice. “In addition, this holiday offers us a unique opportunity to also recognize the spouses of those who served as well as thank them for the tremendous sacrifices and contributions they made for the defense of American freedom,” said Dave.

During the special recognition ceremony, attendees received a certificate embossed with their name on it and a lapel pin to commemorate their memories of each and every year. Following the ceremony, the community joined in the celebration with a cake and punch reception.

“The support of the military wives was crucial to America’s success in defeating our enemies and sustaining peace and for that we are forever grateful,” stated Dave.
