Heartland Hospice Volunteer Team Creates Christmas Gifts for Patients
This past Christmas, Heartland Hospice serving Middle Georgia gave Christmas presents to all hospice patients who celebrate Christmas. Heartland Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, Tiffany, began having volunteers create the handmade gifts last Christmas. This was the first year that every patient received a handmade gift. The gifts varied from crocheted or knitted scarves, sketches/artwork and handmade ornaments.
Not only were the patients very surprised and thankful, but this also brought joy to the Heartland team and Heartland volunteers. “There is no greater feeling than giving to those who may be celebrating their last holiday. The handmade gifts are extra special because they are coming from a volunteer’s heart,” said Tiffany.
As of the new year, the volunteers have already started to make handmade gifts for the 2020 Christmas season.
